Lena Sturm

Lena Sturm, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., died Friday, May 31, 2002, at Glen Valley Care Center. She was 95.

Miss Sturm was born Feb. 14, 1907, in Norrie, Colo., to Robert and Sabina Mall Sturm. Her father was a section foreman for the Midland Railroad Tunnel at Norrie. When that job was done, the family moved back to his land at Silt, Colo.

She spent her childhood in the Colorado communities of Silt, Mamm Creek, Minturn and Grand Junction.

In Minturn, she cooked and cared for the Nelson family.

In April 1954, she moved to Glenwood Springs with her sister, Mary Sturm. They finished the inside of their house. The sisters worked for many families cleaning houses and ironing.

Miss Sturm was preceded in death by sisters Rose Sturm and Mary Sturm; and brother Otto Sturm.

She is survived by a second cousin, Vernon Dedisse.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 4, at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs, with Deacon Vic Kimminau officiating.

Farnum-Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
