Are you someone who is not able to get out of the house without assistance? The Garfield County Public Library District has a free service available to residents of all ages. If you or someone you know is unable to go to the library due to illness, age or disability, the library offers Homebound Services, a delivery service that will bring books or audio books right to your door and then pick them back up on a regular basis. If a temporary illness or disability is keeping you indoors, Homebound Services can assist you in getting library materials until you are back on your feet again. The library offers thousands of titles that can inspire, teach or give hours of reading pleasure.

It’s easy. If you or someone you know is interested in Homebound Services, call your local branch of the Garfield County Libraries. Our staff will set up an appointment to visit you in your home and assist you in selecting books by your favorite authors or subjects that are of interest. Whether it’s fiction or non-fiction you prefer, we can help you to choose what you will enjoy. We can also suggest “read-alikes” by authors who write similarly to your favorites. People using Homebound Services do not accrue overdue fines and the service is available for print and audio items only.

Another option to be considered is the Colorado Talking Book Library for those with visual, physical or learning disabilities. If the inability to read regular print is keeping you from enjoying your favorite subjects or authors, you can still enjoy them in an alternative form. A simple application is required which can be accessed online at http: //www.cde.state.co.us/ctbl/tbapplicationss.htm or at your local library. We can also bring the application to you and help you apply. Requested material will then be mailed to you on a regular basis free of charge.

Please consider the valuable resource of Homebound Services for yourself or someone you know. Additionally, a similar program called Books to Go is currently offered to Meals On Wheels clients from New Castle to Parachute as part of the regular delivery. As always, the library looks forward to serving you!
