Letters to the editor
The liberal rhetoric continues with statements like, “Bush shouldn’t have started a war.” Or, “He is the worst president in history.”
Well, here is some news. We did not start this war. Those pesky terrorists did.
So with that in mind, let’s look at what some other presidents have done.
FDR went to war with Germany even though they did not attack us. Japan did. Total American lives lost, 450,000.
Truman ended World War II and started another one in Korea. Korea never attacked us. Total American lives lost, 55,000.
JFK (the first one) started the war in Vietnam. They never attacked us. LBJ turned it into a nightmare. Total American lives lost, 58,000.
Clinton went to war in Bosnia. They never attacked us either. He turned down getting custody of Osama bin Laden, who has attacked us many times.
President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, injured al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea, captured a dictator who murdered 300,000 of his own people, and while doing this has not allowed another terrorist attack here at home. Total American lives lost, 600.
So what gives here? What am I missing? I am sure some of you liberals out there will let me know, won’t you?
“I believe it is better to tell the truth than a lie. It is better to be free than to be a slave. It is better to know than to be ignorant.” ” Henry Louis Mencken
As I was watching the crucifiction of Jesus in the movie “The Passion of Christ” by Mel Gibson, I kept wondering how anyone could be so barbaric.
People have not changed”there are many barbarians among us”our great United States of America legalized the crucifiction of over 40 million live unwanted innocent unborn babies.
And we think we are a civilized country.

I believe the word of God to be true. God can’t break his word. And because his word cannot change, it is a timeless guidebook on how we are to live our lives. Hebrews 13:8 says, “Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday and forever.” Our knowledge ” what we know and understand about the world might change, but the truth never changes. Jesus taught that not only is there truth, but also that He is the truth.
God defined marriage as an event when “a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife and the two will become one flesh.” (Eph .5:31) Clearly God said, “Do not lie with a man as one lies with a woman; that is detestable.” (Lev. 18:22) God destroyed the city of Sodom because of sexual impurity. (Gen. 19:5)
I agree that love is what Jesus was all about. He gave his life for the sins of all people. Jesus not only loved us, he told us to love our neighbors as ourselves, to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. (Matt. 5:44) God instituted marriage as a union between a man and a woman. “Marriage should be honored by all and the marriage bed kept pure for God will judge the adulterer and the sexually immoral.” (Hebrews 13 :1-4). Since all scripture is useful for teaching and correcting, l would have to say that, based on God’s word, Jesus wouldn’t have defended gay marriage.
Now we have more poachers! You wouldn’t publish my letter to you of two weeks ago about the Mr. Goure of Carbondale who “slayed the five deer” and said my article was a personal attack.
I was trying to get across to you that the Division of Wildlife needs more funding, more support, and how the laws need to be changed. Letting his cousin keep his firearms is so lame!
The other reason you didn’t publish my letter was because I invited Mr. Goure to come to my house for target practice. Whatever!
Since then, we now have three more poachers! The new suspect to add to the list killed the bighorn ram in Glenwood Canyon, which qualifies under the state’s Samson Law. In the same article, two other people were suspected of taking deer outside of hunting season. They were from Clifton and DeBeque.
These offenders should have their licenses revoked for life (if they ever had licenses). There should be “huge” fines applied, probation for a minimum of three years, community service for 100-plus hours, picking up carcasses along our highways. We are not talking about teenagers. These slayers are no different than serial killers or pedophiles.
