Libraries supported by sales tax, not property tax

Jacilyn E. Spuhler

Dear Editor,

I would like to disabuse the voting populace of the misconception that Garfield County libraries are supported by a property tax, as purported in the full page advertisement by Yes on 3B supporters in the Oct. 31 Post Independent.

Garfield County libraries are supported by a 0.25 percent sales tax and the overdue fines paid by library users. That’s it.

I encourage any supporter of 3B to contact me for any clarification needed.
