Longtime Hotchkiss resident, Lionel A. Azoulay, died on Friday, July 31, 2009, at the Delta Country Memorial Hospital. He was eighty-five years of age. The funeral was held Aug. 4 at the Cedar Hill Cemetery in Paonia, CO.

Lionel is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Louse Azoulay of Hotchkiss, CO; one son, Joel Azoulay of Denver, CO; two daughters, Denise and her husband Dan Sparkman of Basalt, CO, and Cathy Shanteau of Silt, CO; and one sister, Micheline Knight of Eckert, CO. Lionel is further survived by four grandchildren: Jessica Sparkman, Monica and her husband Gary Connelly, Aimee and her husband Bryan Wilkens, and Joel Azoulay Jr.; three great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
