Local ashes are from Rangely wildland fire
SILT, Colorado – Ashes found on vehicles in the Silt and New Castle area Wednesday morning were likely from a small wildland fire burning near Rangely and were blown into the area, according to fire management officials.
The Spring Creek Fire is a small fire that was under control on Wednesday but is still being monitored by an incident management team, said Russ Long, central zone fire management officer for the Upper Colorado Interagency Fire Management Center.
Long said that after receiving reports of ash falling in the Colorado River Valley, crews flew over the area to make sure no local fires were burning. Nothing was found, he said.
