After four months, the Colorado Department of Transportation has completed its major resurfacing project on Interstate 70 between the main Glenwood Springs exit and South Canyon.CDOT has been working on resurfacing the road on that segment of the highway since early July, along with upgrading the rockfall protection barrier between East Canyon Creek and South Canyon and the installation and repair of guardrails.The cost of the project was $5.9 million.”These improvements will provide a safe, smooth roadway for many years to come,” CDOT reported.The last major resurface project was done in 1994, although other improvements have been made between 1994 and 2005 to keep the road alive.Both CDOT and Elam Construction of Grand Junction would like to thank the traveling public for its patience and consideration during the course of the project.
