BASALT – The Two Rivers Drug Enforcement Team (TRIDENT) seized 58 live marijuana plants, LSD and psilocybin mushrooms from a house on Ridge Road on Thursday, according to the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.Authorities arrested Nicholas John Ferraro, 26, Jacob Berstresser, 26, and Jasminka O. Baney, 26. Ferraro was charged with two counts of unlawful possession of a schedule one controlled substance – LSD and hallucinogenic mushrooms, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana and cultivation of marijuana. Berstresser and Baney were both charged with possession of a schedule one controlled substance – LSD.Authorities found “several doses” of LSD dropped on Sweet Tart candies.
CARBONDALE – The town of Carbondale lost power Sunday evening for 43 minutes due to an auto accident that took out a power pole near the Sopris Restaurant on Highway 82.Damian Zuliga-Silva, 35, of Glenwood Springs, was traveling westbound on Highway 82 when he lost control of his Isuzu Rodeo and went off the left side of the roadway, continued through the center median and crossed the eastbound lanes. Zuliga-Silva then continued and hit a wood power poll that snapped and fell to the ground in the parking lot of the Sopris Restaurant, according to the Colorado State Patrol.Zuliga-Silva was issued a ticket for careless driving and driving without a valid driver’s license. Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, but driving too fast for conditions was.Colorado State Patrol investigated the crash and was assisted by Carbondale Fire, Holy Cross Energy crews and Valley Towing.
