GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” Crews plan to reopen most of the path through Glenwood Canyon today.

The Colorado Department of Transportation initially opened the Glenwood Canyon Bike Path for the season on April 5, but had to close it again on May 20 due to high water between the Shoshone Power Plant and Hanging Lake Rest Area.

In a news release, CDOT said crews will reopen the path Thursday but will need to keep the section between Grizzly Creek Rest Area and the Hanging Lake Rest Area closed until fence repairs are complete. Approximately 100 feet of fence was either washed away or damaged with recent high waters.

GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado ” About 5,440 votes were cast in the Holy Cross Energy board of directors election last week.

The results of the June 6 election were released Wednesday, with George H. Shaeffer the winner in the Northern District. He received 1,925 votes compared to David S. Campbell’s 958 votes.

The winner of the Western District was Lynn E. Dewer, who received 1,635 votes. Her competitor, James G. Snyder, received 1,028 votes.

The recently elected directors will be begin serving a three-year term to begin on June 18.
