Control is expected today on the wildfire burning in Garfield Creek State Wildlife Area.Burning Mountains Fire Protection District Chief Brit McLin said on Sunday night, “Our anticipation is to have it contained and controlled by the end of business tomorrow.”McLin said that after a better measurement, the fire’s size is estimated to be 25 acres. It did not grow on Sunday.The cause is still under investigation, he added.

A fatal rollover accident occurred at mile marker 68 of Interstate 70 westbound between Parachute and DeBeque on Sunday afternoon, according to scanner reports.Grand Valley Fire Protection District, Garfield County Sheriff’s Office and Colorado State Patrol responded to the scene.No further information was available at press time.
