The Roaring Fork Transportation Authority Board of Directors, at its meeting today in Carbondale, will consider establishing a northbound bus-only lane in south Glenwood Springs for use during the evening rush hours.The Colorado Department of Transportation is beginning work to resurface the section of Highway 82 south at 23rd Street. As part of the project, it agreed to restripe the lanes to create a a third, exclusive bus and right turn-only lane from 32nd Street to just before 23rd Street.”Having an exclusive bus lane at this location will expedite the movement of buses through a very heavily congested portion of the corridor during afternoon peak hours,” according to a memo from RFTA director Dan Blankenship.The RFTA board will decide whether to pay a $285,000 share of the estimated $570,000 project. The board meets at 8:30 a.m. today at Carbondale Town Hall, 511 Colorado Ave. The bus lane proposal is expected to come up at 10 a.m.

Garfield County authorities arrested a man on Wednesday on charges of trespassing and indecent exposure, after he allegedly walked into a neighbor’s apartment naked.Mark Steven Orrin Rice, 47, of Battlement Mesa, was arrested after Sheriff’s Office deputies “responded to the Battlement Mesa area for a report of a nude male subject who had been found trespassing in a neighbor’s residence,” according to a statement issued by the sheriff’s office on Wednesday.The statement did not explain how the deputies found Rice, or how he was related, if at all, to the person who called in the incident.Rice was being held in the Garfield County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon, in lieu of paying a $3,500 bond.He is due in court today for the official advisement of the charges against him, according to a jail official.

A Rifle trucker whose cargo slammed into a ranch overpass on I-70 recently has been ticketed for careless driving, according to the Colorado State Patrol.Cody Gehrett, 22, of Rifle, was driving west along the interstate on July 2 when the large tank he was hauling failed to make it under the overpass.Gehrett was driving for Screamin(g) Eagle Trucking, and this is believed to have been the second incident in less than a year in which one of their trucks hit an overpass on I-70.
