Over the past three months, an increase in thefts from well pads in western Garfield County have been reported. Items taken include solar panels, batteries and related equipment. During this period, six reported thefts have occurred mainly in the areas west of Rifle and Parachute and along County Road 215. The four most recent incidents took place the final week of July, according to a news release from the Garfield County Sheriff’s Office.

The affected energy development companies include Williams Production and EnCana, and the estimated value of the stolen property is approximately $13,650. Five of the cases are inactive pending further leads.

State Rep. Kathleen Curry hosts a meet-and-greet from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 8 at the Bluebird Cafe in downtown Glenwood Springs.

Curry is running for re-election in the Nov. 2 general election as an independent, write-in candidate.
