The Rifle Branch Library’s last day in its temporary facility at 139 W 3rd Street will be on Sunday, Oct. 24. After closing at 5 p.m. that day, the library will remain closed for one month. During this time the library will to move into its newly constructed building at 207 East Avenue. The Grand Opening Celebration for the new library will be on Saturday, Nov. 20, at 10 a.m.

The Frontier Historical Society will hold its eleventh annual Historic Ghost Walk through Linwood (Pioneer) Cemetery in Glenwood Springs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 15, 16 and 17, as well as Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 22, 23 and 24, and Friday, Saturday and Sunday Oct. 29, 30 and 31. Tours each night will lead you up the hill to the old cemetery where costumed actors portray pioneers from Glenwood Springs’ past, including “Doc” Holliday and Kid Curry.

Tours are at 7, 7:45, 8:30 and 9:15 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and 7, 7:45 and 8:30 p.m. on Sundays. Tours are limited to 30 people each. Recommended for children school age and up.



Participants need to carry lanterns or flashlights for the moderately strenuous half-mile hike up to the cemetery. Lanterns will be available for purchase for $10 before each tour. Be advised that once up at the cemetery, the terrain is hilly and mildly strenuous. Wear appropriate footwear and be prepared for possible inclement weather. Do not attempt the hike if you have any type of physical limitations.

Tickets are $15 for all ages. Tickets for Frontier Historical Society members are $10. Tickets may be reserved with a credit card by calling the museum at (970) 945-4448. Tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. Sorry, but lost tickets cannot be honored. Late arrivals will be held back and may be allowed to join the following tour.



Cookies and cider will be served at the bottom of the hill after each tour. Please be advised that no flash photography or recording devices will be allowed during the performances. You may take photographs after each individual performance with the actor’s permission.
