Glenwood Springs, CO Colorado

A 53-year-old Parachute man was killed in a one-car accident Friday morning on Interstate 70 about seven miles west of Glenwood Springs.

The Colorado State Patrol was called to the scene around 9 a.m. Friday to a report of an accident at mile post 107.6 on I-70.

According to the State Patrol, Michael Thomas Doyle of Parachute was driving eastbound in a 2009 Chevrolet HHR when he drove off of the left side of the road and across the median. The vehicle traveled across the westbound traffic lanes and collided with an embankment where Doyle died from his injuries.

The crash is currently under investigation, but a medical condition may have contributed to the crash, the State Patrol said.

The Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition [CIRC] is hosting more than 60 organizations, with some 300 community organizers, service providers, faith leaders and others, at CIRC’s 2010 Statewide Assembly.

“We decided to hold the CIRC assembly in Glenwood Springs as a tribute to the great efforts for immigrant justice happening here in the mountain region,” said Brendan Greene, the region’s organizer for CIRC.

The goal of the assembly is to develop skills, provide a network of contacts and plan for the 2011 campaign, which operations manager Gina Millan said is to be, “Reform, Relief and Respect for the immigrant communities of Colorado.”
