The Naturalist Night hosted by Wilderness Workshop this week will feature Jeffrey Parrish, who is proposing a special plan to provide North American wildlife with freedom to roam.

Wildlife faces habitat fragmentation from development as well as habitat shifts caused by climate change. Preservation of corridors and habitat connections are the only adaptation strategy that will ensure long-term survival.

Parrish is executive director of Freedom to Roam, a coalition of conservation groups, businesses and governments that is building awareness about the need for wildlife corridor preservation.

Parrish will outline the strategy at two meetings in the Roaring Fork Valley. He will present a slide show at 5:30 p.m. today at the Third Street Center in Carbondale. He will repeat the slide show at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies office at Hallam Lake.
