Carbondale Trustees are worried about a proliferation of “sandwich-board” signs propped open on sidewalks in the downtown area and along Highway 133 as it passes through town.
And, the trustees decided this week, they may have to do something about it.
The board on Aug. 9 instructed town staff to draw up a policy regarding the use of sandwich-board signs by local businesses.
That policy, once approved by the trustees, will go to the town’s planning and zoning commissioner, to be incorporated into a proposed ordinance.
That ordinance will then go back before the trustees for consideration.
There will be a spaghetti dinner and silent auction to benefit Jim and Adria Baker from 5-9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 12, at the Glenwood Springs Baptist Church, 406 W. Seventh St.
Jim Baker, a retired Burning Mountains firefighter and former detective for the Garfield County Sheriff’s Department, was diagnosed in January with cancer. The family lost their health insurance in May. Jim has had to postpone his next round of chemotherapy due to the expense. Please join us in support of this family.
Tickets may be purchased at the door, adults $15, kids $5, family of four $35. To make donations, contact Marc Jaffrey at 379-3039 or Mary Jaffrey at 618-5312.
