A 57-year-old truck driver from Las Vegas was killed early Friday morning when he reportedly fell asleep and rolled his rig on eastbound Interstate 70 near Gypsum, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

The accident happened at about 5:10 a.m. Friday when the semi truck driven by Bryan Davies went off the left side of the road into the median and rolled onto its side. Davies was partially ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to the State Patrol, Davies had apparently fallen asleep behind the wheel. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The semi-truck was not carrying any hazardous materials.

“The Colorado State Patrol would like to remind motorists to pull over and rest when feeling tired,” The CSP said in a press release.
