The Garfield County Republicans are hosting a summer barbecue at noon July 30 at the Jolley Ranch in New Castle. Republican state chairman Bob Martinez will be the keynote speaker, with gubernatorial candidates and elected officials in attendance. Tickets are $35 for adults, $5 for children 5-17, and children younger than 5 get in free. For ticket information, call 984-2595.

The Anvil Points Quilt Guild’s second annual show and sale is from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 6 at the Silt Historical Park, just down the street the Silt Hey Days event. Call Phyllis Snider at 876-2493 for more information.

The Artist’s Mercantile offers a beginner drawing and painting class for children ages 6-11 starting July 21. Pre-registration is required by Thursday. Info: 947-0947.
