The Bureau of Land Management will host meetings in Colorado, Utah and Wyoming to answer questions about and solicit comments on its oil shale and tar sands Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement (Draft PEIS).

The Colorado meeting will be held from 7-9:30 p.m. on Monday, March 12, at the BLM Colorado River Valley Office, 2300 River Frontage Road, in Silt.

BLM officials will be on hand at the meetings to take written comments and answer questions.

The Draft PEIS, issued Feb. 3, is being prepared by the BLM to assess a range of management alternatives for future oil-shale and tar-sands activities on public lands. A 90-day public comment period closes on May 4.

Written comments on the Draft PEIS can be submitted online at http://ostseis.anl.gov.

Comments may also be submitted by mail to: Oil Shale and Tar Sands Draft Programmatic EIS, Argonne National Laboratory, 9700 South Cass Ave., EVS 240, Argonne, Ill. 60439.
