There will be free training for those interested in becoming licensed family child-care providers from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Aug. 26-27, at 80 Ponderosa Circle in Glenwood Springs. Call 945-9191, ext. 3066, by Aug. 19 to register.

The Basalt Regional Historical Society and the Colorado Quilting Council will host a Quilt History Day from 9:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, at Basalt Town Hall. The Colorado Quilting Council will document the history of old and new quilts through oral history Interviews, identification patterns and designs and a photo documentation.

Bring any history of the quilt, quiltmaker and family. Registration deadline is Aug. 10. Call 927-4693.

The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts welcomes Hester Davis, of Vail, who will teach jazz, hip-hop, modern and tap; and Marcia Bickel, of New Castle, who will teach jazz, modern, ballet and drill team dance.

The swimming pool at the Glenwood Springs Community Center will close at 8:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, at 9:30 p.m. Friday, at 8:30 p.m. Saturdays and at 5 p.m. Sundays.
