A benefit to help defray expenses for Taylor Allen DeMarco will be held at 5 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at The Hideout in Parachute.

A $5 donation per person buys dinner. A silent auction is planned from 5-7 p.m., followed by pool and dart tournaments. A $10-per-person entry fee for each tournament is requested.

Live entertainment will be provided by The Swingin’ Mood Cats.



All proceeds will be given to the family, including 10 percent of beverage sales.

U.S. Rep. John Salazar, D-Colo., will make a tour of the West Slope this week to discuss energy development, water and local transportation projects. Salazar will meet with local elected officials from Garfield County, Parachute, Rifle and Silt as well as energy company representatives from 9-10:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 5, at Rifle City Hall.



Castle Valley Children’s Clinic in New Castle is offering sports physicals at a discounted price of $10 from 5-7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 5. Any high school or junior high school athlete in the Re-1 or Re-2 school district may participate.

Student athletes should come dressed in shorts and bring completed forms.

Money from the evening will be donated to the Coal Ridge and Rifle High School booster clubs.

The Ironbridge Golf Club and Mountain Community near Glenwood Springs will host a Grand Opening reception from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 7. Fun family activities are planned throughout the day, including golf contests for adults and kids, prizes, free giveaways and complimentary lunch, soft drinks and beer.

A Ford Freestyle from Glenwood Springs Ford will be awarded to the first person who hits a hole-in-one. All kids up to age 12 will be challenged to test their putting skills in the Kids’ Putting Contest.
