On Sept. 13, Big O Tires of Western Colorado owners Kevin Brooks and Larry Theisen presented a $25,000 check to Hospice and Palliative Care of Western Colorado. Hospice president and CEO Christy Whitney accepted the check at a ceremony that took place at the North Avenue Big O Tires store in Grand Junction.The Big O Tires donation will help fund the construction of three Hospice projects: a Hospice Center in Montrose, an In-Patient facility in Grand Junction, and the Center for Hope and Healing, also in Grand Junction.

Everything you need to know about dog ownership will be presented at the Responsible Pet Ownership Day, to be held from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the New Castle Community Center.Professional specialists will be on hand to discuss health clearances, health requirements, puppy socialization and training, grooming and breeding in general. For a nominal fee, owners may have their dogs take a canine good citizen test, which some insurance companies require of a few breeds.Call 984-3142 for more information.
