The New Castle Recreation Department is now taking team registrations for co-ed adult 8v8 soccer. Registration forms can be picked up at the New Castle Community Center or at town hall.

The Carbondale Recreation and Community Center is running a youth dodgeball program in April. Many different ways of playing this well-known game will be explored and specially designed foam dodgeballs will be used.

The program, which is geared for 8- to 11-year-olds, meets Thursdays, April 7-28, from 3:45-4:45 p.m. at the rec center. The fee is $40 and the registration deadline is today.

Registration is now open for the 12th annual Mother’s Day Mile. The race is Sunday, May 8, at 1 p.m.

Glenwood Medical Associates is sponsoring the event, which is a fundraiser for the Advocate Safehouse Project.

Pre-registrants will receive an eco-friendly, reusable bag with race goodies. New this year will be chip-timed souvenir race numbers with your name on it if you register before May 2.

All participants receive a finish-line rose, homemade apple pie and a chance to win age-group awards from the Sisterhood Exchange Program in Kenya. A gift basket silent auction will be held under the big tent.

Pre-register in person at Glenwood Medical Associates (1830 Blake Ave.) and at U.S. Bank at Eighth and Grand.

The 2011 Demons youth basketball camp is slated for June 6-9 for players entering the fourth through ninth grades.

Fourth- through sixth-graders meet from 9-11 a.m. each day and seventh- through ninth-graders meet from noon to 2 p.m.

Camp instruction will emphasize the following: positive team attitude, motivation and goal setting, shooting, passing, ball handling, defensive concepts and total player development.

The cost is $50 and enrollment is limited to 100 campers per session. Early registration is highly recommended as walk-in registration is not guaranteed.

Batter up! Carbondale Recreation is accepting registrations for adult softball for both its co-ed and men’s leagues.

The registration deadline is Friday, May 13. All fees are due at the time of sign-up, which is handled on a first-come, first-served basis.

No spots will be held without full payment and no partial payments will be accepted. The cost for the Monday night co-ed league is $540 and the Tuesday night men’s league is $650.

Games begin in June.

The Glenwood Springs Golf Club men’s club will tee its season off on Tuesday, April 5.
