The Rifle Ladies Golf Team won the northern division of the Intermountain Golf League. The team then beat Tiara Rado, the winner of the southern league, to become champions of the Western Slope.
Members of the team were: Pam Buerger, Marge Fleming, Candy Hammerich, Tami Holt, Nondis Lowther, Karen MacDougal, Carol Manupella, Sue Means, Diann Robertson and Penny Sykes.
John Sikora smacked a hole-in-one at Glenwood Springs Golf Club on Saturday.
Using a 7-iron, Sikora’s shot sailed 152 yards into the cup on the eighth hole.
Mike Mestas, Greg DeJulio and Doug Moyer witnessed the shot.
The Three Rivers High School Football Association is looking for officials. Prospects will be trained and a time commitment is required.
Hands-on training is every Wednesday night at either Glenwood Springs High School or Gypsum Town Hall. Officials will start out with sub-varsity games until proficiency is achieved.
Officials from Rifle to Glenwood, from Eagle to Vail and from Carbondale to Aspen are needed.

The 2011 Coal Ridge High School girls volleyball season officially begins Monday, Aug. 15, at 4 p.m. in the main gym at the school.
It is recommended that athletes trying out for the team attend a 6 p.m. informational meeting/barbecue on Aug. 10 at Coal Ridge. The meeting will provide players with what they will need to know for tryouts and what to expect for the season. It will also be a chance to meet the coaches.
If you or your parents are unable to attend, then show up on Aug. 15. If you do miss the meeting, contact head coach Scott Black at 309-0359 or email@example.com to find out the information that was missed.
Fall leagues at Rifle Fireside Lanes begin the week of Sept. 12.
Sanctioned and non-sanctioned leagues are offered and the price is $3.50 per game (per person) and an additional $2 for shoes. Each team must have at least four bowlers.
A league meeting will be held 40 minutes prior to the first game. Sign up at Rifle Fireside Lanes, which is located at 23 Highway 325 in Rifle, or call 625-2231.

• Sanctioned women’s league, Mondays, 7-10 p.m.
• Sanctioned men’s league, Tuesdays, 7-10 p.m.
• Sanctioned seniors league (55 and older), Wednesdays, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
• Non-sanctioned mixed league, Wednesdays, 7-10 p.m.
• Sanctioned mixed league, Thursdays, 7-10 p.m.
• Sanctioned men’s league, Fridays, 7-10 p.m.
• Sanctioned youth league (6 to 22 years old), Sundays, 1:30-4:30 p.m.
• Sanctioned mixed league, Sundays, 7-10 p.m.
The Rifle High School cross country team will meet for the first time on Monday, Aug. 8, at the school commons.
