Registration for the Sept. 24 Vasque Golden Leaf Half Marathon is now open online at http://www.active.com.
Those interested in participating are encouraged to register early.
The Vasque Golden Leaf Half Marathon has been chosen by Trail Runner Magazine as one of “America’s 14 Most Scenic Races” and was voted by Colorado Runner Magazine as the “Best Half Marathon” in 2008.
The Golden Leaf course traverses the mountains of Snowmass and Aspen. The trail can be narrow and steep at times, with elevation gains of 970 feet and a peak of 9,400 feet.
Unlike the many fast and flat marathons on city streets, the Golden Leaf will challenge even the toughest of marathon competitors with its rocky mountain trails.
The field size will be limited to 1,000 athletes. The cost is $45 through Sept. 11, $55 from Sept. 12-23 or $65 on race day.
For details on the race, visit http://www.goldenleafhalfmarathon.com.
Registration for the Glenwood Canyon Shuffle Race for Literacy, a half-marathon run and 5K run/walk, is now open. This year’s race through the scenic Glenwood Canyon is Oct. 1.

Events range from 50s to 200s to 1,650 and both novice and competitive categories will be offered. Relay events will also be held. All abilities are welcome.
The $35 entry fee includes: four events to be scored toward high point award, unlimited exhibition events and a T-shirt. All proceeds benefit the self-funded Glenwood Springs High School boys swim team.
