It was the second ace for the third-year golfer. Her first was last October at Lakota. Back then, she used an 8-iron to drain a 125-yard hole-in-one on the 17th.

On Sunday, the Colorado West Select Soccer Club’s U16 girls team defeated Littleton’s Colorado United in penalty kicks in the Colorado State Cup semifinals.

Jordan Padgett and Leah Swander scored on goals assisted by Jamie Madson and Taylor Chaffetz to give Colorado West Select a 2-all tie at the end of regulation.

Neither team scored in overtime.

In the penalty kick phase, Colorado West Select made all five of its attempts, with goals by Jamie Madson, Katie Werman, Jordan Padgett, Leah Swander and Courtney Coffey.

Colorado West Select will play Colorado Springs’ Pride Predators in the State Cup finals this coming Sunday. The winner will be crowned the Colorado state champion and advance to the Western United States Regional Championships.

Colorado West Select is a regional select soccer program with youth players from the Vail Valley to Glenwood Springs, Grand Junction and Montrose.

Glenwood’s Grace McSwain is among the team’s players.

Carbondale Middle School’s seventh- and eighth-grade football teams recently finished successful seasons. Both wrapped the fall with identical 4-2 records.
