Rock ‘n’ Rugby, a concert fundraiser for Glenwood Defiance Rugby Football Club, is slated for Sept. 8 at the Eagles Club in Glenwood (312 Seventh Street).
The doors open at 4 p.m. and the bands go on at 8 p.m.
Concrete Vibe, Glenwood’s very own rock band, Grand Junction’s The Haven Effect and Denver’s V.O.I.E.D. will be playing. You can find all three bands on Facebook, Reverbnation and their own websites.
Admission is $10 at the door or $7 if purchased in advance at the Eagles Club or online at Concretevibe.com.
The Glenwood Springs Center for the Arts, the Gear Exchange and local artists are inviting mountain bike riders to “Le Tour Defiance,” a community mountain bike parade and race on Saturday, Sept. 8.
Costumes are encouraged. A parade style roll-out departs at 9 a.m. from the arts center, 601 Sixth St., to the Glenwood Springs Community Center. The race on the Wulfsohn and Red Mountain trails starts at 9:30 a.m.
The race ends at noon back at the arts center, with a barbecue lunch, awards ceremony and the opening of the “Tired Olde Soles” art exhibit.
Racers must be 10 or older, with four divisions for age and gender. Registration is $20 in advance or $25 on race day. Register online at glenwoodarts.org, call 945-2414, or register at the arts center on the day of the race from 8-8:30 a.m.
Adult co-ed kickball is coming to Glenwood Springs this fall.
Glenwood Springs Parks and Recreation is coordinating a league that runs Sept. 6-Oct. 25 at Two Rivers Park.
Official rules are published at http://www.glenwoodrec.com. Rosters must have a minimum of eight players and a maximum of 10. At least four women must be on the field at all times.
The cost is $200 for a team with at least five Glenwood Springs Community Center members or a team that is sponsored by one of the center’s corporate member businesses. A non-member team is $250.
Register by Sept. 4 at the community center or by calling 384-6311. There will be a mandatory managers meeting Sept. 6 at 5:45 p.m.
