Rifle Creek Golf Course is hosting the Capital Improvement Fundraiser Tournament on Sunday, Sept. 30. The tournament will raise funds to install a new sprinkler system at the course.

The four-person scramble, which gets under way with a 9 a.m. shotgun start, costs $400 per team. That includes green fees, cart, food and a donation to the capital improvement fund for a new sprinkler system. Teams can be men, women, youth or co-ed.

Sign up to play by calling the pro shop at 625-1093. Individuals can be placed on a team. For hole sponsorships, call Kyle at 625-1093. To donate silent auction items, call Mark or Bob at 625-4352.

Valley View Hospital Foundation will hold Rally the Valley, a community-wide fundraiser event, on Saturday, Oct. 13, beginning at 8:30 a.m. at Sayre Park in Glenwood Springs.

Rally the Valley will support integrative therapy treatments for patients at the Calaway + Young Cancer Center.

“Science and medicine can cure cancer. Radiation, chemotherapy and surgery can treat the disease. But, healing a person from head to toe takes more,” said Stacey Gavrell, executive director of the Valley View Hospital Foundation, the fundraising arm of the hospital. “It requires humanized treatment, personalized care and demystification of the journey that is cancer. It requires a comprehensive approach that not only treats the cancer, but also addresses the mind and spirit.”

There are multiple ways to Rally.

Register as an individual, a child or a team for the 24.5-mile bike ride or the 5K walk – each with rewards for raising additional funds. There will also be a fun-spirited, short Peyton’s Parade for kids under the age of 13.

You can also sponsor the event or a participant and attend the lunch and party at Sayre Park.

Additional individual or team fundraising efforts come with rewards such as a Rally logo bike jersey, ball cap, socks or a sponsor goodie bag.

For more information about the event, to sponsor, to volunteer or to register, visit http://www.rallythevalley.org or call 384-6620.

Coal Ridge High School has openings for two assistant girls basketball coach positions and one assistant boys basketball coach position. If interested, visit http://www.garfieldre2.org and apply.
