The Glenwood Springs High School boys basketball team is putting on a holiday family portrait special at GSHS on Sunday, Dec. 2.
Schedule an appointment for the event, which runs from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m., by contacting Jennetta Gambrel at 319-3720. MJ Thomas Photography out of Grand Junction will be taking the portrait shots. Portraits will be returned the week of Dec. 17.
The Glenwood Springs High School baseball team is holding turkey bingo night at the Elks Lodge in Glenwood Springs on Sunday, Nov. 18.
Turkeys and additional items will be awarded as prizes. Bingo begins at 6 p.m., with the doors opening at 5:30 p.m. Seating allows just 100 players. Proceeds benefit the GSHS baseball team.
Kick off your Thanksgiving holiday with the first annual Rifle Turkey Trot 5K, hosted by the Rifle High School cross country and track and field programs, at Deerfield Park on Thanksgiving morning. The race kicks off at 9 a.m. with a family-friendly course through the park.
Registration is $25 per person, or $70 for the entire family. Register online at http://www.active.com or beginning at 8 a.m. on race day. The registration includes a shirt as well as pre- and post-race refreshments. Prizes will be awards for the top male and female competitors, as well as for the best costumes.

Runners, joggers, walkers and non-runners are invited to sign up for the Turkey Trot 5K Fun Run.
This Thanksgiving Day (Nov. 22) will begin at the Glenwood Springs Community Center at 10 a.m. Test your running abilities on a fresh new course.
Pre-race registration is under way at Independence Run and Hike in Carbondale. The Glenwood Springs High School boys and girls swim teams, along with the Sopris Barracudas, are pre-selling race entries. Pre-race registration is $7. Race-day registration will be $10 and begin at 9 a.m. inside the community center.
Crown Mountain Park is putting on a youth indoor soccer camp Dec. 4-6 and 11-13.
Dribbling, passing and shooting will all be covered, and campers will participate in games and competitions. The camp is designed to help kids have fun playing and learning the game of soccer. Kids in the fifth through seventh grades will play from 4:30-6 p.m. at the Basalt Elementary School gym.
