The Mount Sopris Run-Off is returning to the Roaring Fork Valley on July 24.

The course will be shortened this year, with runners taking off at the Emma Schoolhouse and running 14 miles right into Sopris Park and the heart of Carbondale Mountain Fair. The race will have more aid stations than in the past and will now start at 7:30 a.m.

Also new this year is a four-mile run, which starts on Prince Creek Road and routes racers downhill straight into Mountain Fair. A bus will shuttle runners to the start line at 7:15 a.m., with the race beginning at 7:45 a.m.

For more information, call Independence Run and Hike at 704-0909. Volunteers are also needed for the aid stations and to sign up runners in the morning.
