The Carbondale Recreation fall adult softball league’s registration deadline has been extended to Friday, Aug. 13. The co-ed league begins Aug. 16 and is $400. The men’s league gets started on Aug. 17 and is $450.

Fall sports for seventh- and eighth-graders at Glenwood Springs Middle School will begin on Monday, Aug. 16.



All athletes will need to have a current physical, insurance information and the $30 athletic fee to participate.

Football players will receive their gear on Aug. 16 and the first full day of practice will be Aug. 17 from 4-6 p.m. Eighth-graders will receive gear on Aug. 16 from 4-5 p.m. and seventh-graders from 5-6 p.m.



All volleyball players should report at 4 p.m. on Monday.

Forms can be picked up from the GSMS office this week from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

Glenwood Springs High School is holding a meeting for parents of fall sports athletes tonight at 6 p.m. in the Jeannie Miller Theater at the school. The general meeting will be followed by individual sports program meetings.

Formal practice for all sports other than boys golf begins on Monday, Aug. 16. Boys golf began on Aug. 9.

All questions, including practice times for individual sports and school policies, will be answered at the meeting.

Athletic paperwork may be completed prior to the meeting at http://www.rfsd.org under the athletics tab on the main page.

Coal Ridge High School is hosting its fall sports parent night on Wednesday, Aug. 18, at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s main gym. Coaches will review expectations for the upcoming season. Also covered will be changes in the school’s “Athletic Code of Conduct” policy.

Sixth, seventh and eighth graders interested in football are invited to attend a free skills camp at Basalt High School today and Thursday.

The camp, run by Basalt high coach Carl Frerichs and his players, runs from 5:30 to 7 p.m. each night. Participants, who are asked to bring cleats and water, will receive both instruction and a T-shirt.

Registration for Three Rivers Youth Football (fifth- and sixth-graders) is underway.

Practice start Monday, Aug. 30, and the first game is Sunday, Sept. 12. Players must be registered by Aug. 22.
