Elizabeth Madden will surely never forget her first round of golf.

Playing at Ranch at Roaring Fork Golf Course earlier this week, the 10-year-old sunk a hole-in-one on the eighth hole.

Swinging a 6-iron, Madden’s shot found the cup from 54 yards away and was witnessed by Jack and Kate Madden.



The Carbondale Recreation fall adult softball league’s registration deadline has been extended to Friday, Aug. 13. The co-ed league begins Aug. 16 and is $400. The men’s league gets started on Aug. 17 and is $450.

Carbondale Recreation is putting on a 3v3 basketball tournament on Saturday, Aug. 28, beginning at 8 a.m.

The cost is $60 per team (teams of three to five players) and players of either gender who are 17 years old and up may participate. All players will receive a tournament T-shirt and winners will receive individual trophies.

The Glenwood Springs High School football program is holding a youth camp at the GSHS fields on Aug. 17-19. The non-contact camp runs from 5-6:30 p.m. each day and participants will be provided with football skills instruction.

Boys and girls in the third through seventh grades are welcome to sign up. Bring a water bottle, cleats and a ball hat. The cost is $30 and a T-shirt is included.

Players may register the day of camp. Proof of insurance must be provided. Call 704-3228 for more information.
