24 Day Fat Loss Contest

Sandro Torres
Kathy Broughton finished first.

The 24 Day Fat Loss Contest at Custom Body Fitness in Carbondale came to an end recently. Four winners each received a $100 prize, but the fourth spot was very close, so the fifth-place finisher also received a prize.

Since not all contestants have an equal chance to lose weight (someone who is overweight by 100 pounds of fat has the ability to lose more than someone who is overweight by 10 pounds of fat), a point system was also used to determine the winners. Points were awarded for attendance, on-time attendance, support (checking on Facebook), an increase in weight lifted, intensity and cardiovascular training in house. All the contestants had their eating habits modified by their needs.

First place went to Kathy Broughton, who lost 11 pounds, gained 0.4 pounds of muscle and had a score of 76. Second place went to Naomi Ortega, who lost 10 pounds, lost 1.3 pounds of muscle and had a score of 80.

Third place went to Susie Anderson, who lost 1 pound, gained 4.4 pounds of muscle, and had a score of 79. Fourth place went to Samuel Bernal, who lost 0.5 pounds, gained 8.8 pounds of muscle, and had a score of 79. Fifth place went to Ignacio Pimentel, who lost 10 pounds, lost 0.1 pounds of muscle, and had a score of 79.
