According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, the body of Kelly Mae Myers, 18, was found Saturday, Feb. 28, in the Cactus Park area of Mesa County, which is located in the Unaweep Canyon area. The Grand Junction teen was reported missing by her family in late December.

Early reports suggested that Myers may have attempted to hitch-hike to Utah.

At the time of her disappearance, investigators classified her as missing, not “endangered,” a MSCO report said in January.

An autopsy released by the Mesa County Coroner’s office stated that “the cause and manner of death is still under investigation at this time.” Myers’ death is currently considered to be suspicious in nature.
