Aspen Mountain will open approximately 120 acres of terrain for skiing and riding this weekend, Aspen Skiing Co. announced Wednesday.

Skiing will be off the Ajax Express chair on the upper part of the mountain Saturday and Sunday, with uploading and downloading on the Silver Queen Gondola. Skiing will be open from 9 a.m to 2 p.m. with sightseeing open until 4 p.m., and the Sundeck will be open for food and beverage service.

Skico announced last week that it would reopen for Memorial Day weekend skiing and snowboarding, making this the fifth year since 2008 the resort reopened its slopes. Skico President and CEO Mike Kaplan has a record of opening early and closing late if conditions allow.

This weekend will mark 161 days on Aspen Mountain. Skico reported via its Facebook page Wednesday that the “officially official closing day” is June 5.

Premier passholders and 6-and-younger passholders have free access with their 2015-16 winter pass. Other Aspen Snowmass winter passholders can ski for $19 per day. Those 4 and older without an Aspen Snowmass winter season pass can ski for $39 per day. Sightseeing tickets are $19. For more information, call 970-923-1227 or visit the Aspen Mountain ticket office this weekend.
