Bridges begin to take shape

The overall schedule of the Grand Avenue bridge project, which began in January, is still running on time. Work in recent days progressed toward a major milestone scheduled in March 2017 — opening of the new pedestrian bridge. Crews began placing giant steel beams, or girders, on the north side of the Colorado River that will be used to hold and stabilize the new pedestrian bridge.

All substructure work for the traffic bridge has been completed, and the next step will be to begin working on forming the piers. The construction on the Seventh Street station and all utility work will begin this summer, as well as installing an upgraded waterline and storm sewer. For updates and information visit
