VETERANS DAY 2013 CEREMONY
The Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado and the Western Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park will present the annual Veterans Day Ceremony.
On Monday, Nov. 11, from 11 a.m.-noon, all military veterans will be honored at a ceremony at the W. Slope Vietnam War Memorial Park, located at the Colorado Welcome Center, just off I-70 Fruita exit.
The ceremony will feature performances by local singer and Fruita Monument High School sophomore Morgan Crouse, and the Rocky Mountain Scots. The keynote speech will be given by Col. Tom Fisher, Mesa County administrator. Mathias Mulumba, formerly of Uganda, will sing the National Anthem and 6-year-old Hudson Himes will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Pastor Deanne Sharp of the Fruita United Methodist Church will deliver the invocation and benediction.

So a note to all the civilians out there: Don’t forget to hug a veteran, call a veteran, visit a veteran, and/or thank a veteran on Monday. Also, attend the Veterans Day Parade 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 9 on downtown Main Street.
