Carbondale’s Crystal Theatre screens movie as fundraiser
Crystal Theatre screens movie as fundraiser tonight
The Crystal Theatre in Carbondale is screening the movie “Across the Universe” twice on Friday as part of its fundraiser to buy digital projection equipment.
The movie will be shown at 4:45 and 7:30 p.m. The cost is $12 for the special screenings.
Theater owners Bob and Kathy Ezra are trying to raise $70,000 in their digital campaign. They said it has become increasingly difficult to obtain 35 millimeter prints of movies. That will get more difficult in coming years and hurts their efforts to be competitive, they said, so they mounted a campaign to “go digital or go dark.”
The Ezras have operated the Crystal Theatre since July 19, 1985.
