Carbondale’s Drew Sakson dead at 55

Stafff Report

CARBONDALE — Drew Sakson, a longtime mortgage broker in the valley and well-known man about Carbondale, died on July 6 in the home of a friend. He was 55.

Carbondale Police Chief Gene Schilling confirmed that Sakson was found by one of his children at 7:04 p.m., lying on a sofa in a friend’s home at 319 Crystal Road, where he had been staying for an unknown amount of time.

Schilling said that, as of Tuesday, the last person to see Sakson alive reported seeing him at 10 a.m. on Saturday. Schilling also said the condition of the body indicated that Sakson had been dead for hours before being found.

Deputy Garfield County Coroner Steve Pollard said an autopsy was performed on Monday, and that it appeared the cause of death was not a heart attack nor a result of trauma of any kind.

Full autopsy and toxicology results will not be known for at least a month, Pollard said.
