CME food drive scheduled today

Colorado Mountain Express from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today will conduct its annual Fill the Van food drive.

The event is held in Glenwood Springs and Aspen as well as Eagle and Summit counties.

Locations include City Market in Glenwood Springs and City Market in Aspen. Other sites include City Markets in Avon and Eagle, Wal-Mart in Avon and Village Market in Edwards.

Non-perishable items such as canned goods, rice, beans, pasta, cereal and juices are suggested and needed.

“For nearly two decades, Colorado Mountain Express has been filling local food bank pantries and supporting people in need,” company vice president and general manager John Dawsey said. “We’re looking forward to another successful drive this year and encourage community members to support the effort, especially as we prepare for the holiday season.”

CME will distribute the food — it collected 43,400 pounds last year — to organizations in those counties. In the Roaring Fork Valley, the food will go to LIFT-UP.
