Coroner IDs I-70 accident victim
Garfield County Coroner Robert Glassmire has identified the man killed Friday morning in an accident on Interstate 70 near Glenwood Springs as 72-year-old John Hutchings of Pioche, Nevada.
Hutchings was the sole occupant of an SUV towing a utility trailer that crossed the median and three lanes of eastbound I-70, glanced off of concrete abutment for the Devereux Road overpass, hit a tree and came to rest upside-down on the shoulder.
In a press release, Glassmire indicated that there is no evidence that Hutchings was wearing a seat belt, and toxicology results are pending. The death has been ruled an accident.
