Crime Brief: Case continued in fatal car accident

Douglas Liljedahl Jr. was unable to attend court in Glenwood on Thursday due to bad weather along Interstate 70, but called in from the Front Range as his lawyer, Matthew Pearson, requested the case be continued to January.

Liljedahl faces charges of felony vehicular assault, driving under the influence and careless driving in the death of Kathy Sharp, 65, in an accident in August at the Intersection of Highway 82 and Catherine Store Road.

Pearson asserted that a continuance was necessary in order to allow a specialist, who was also unable to reach the valley due to weather, to examine important evidence.

Judge Daniel Petre granted the motion, but informed Liljedahl that “requests to participate by phone won’t be routinely granted.”
