Cyclist seriously injured in accident with dump truck
A cyclist was seriously injured Monday afternoon in an accident involving a dump truck, according to the Colorado State Patrol.
The cyclist was at 500 Snowmass Creek Road, about one-half mile from Highway 82, when the accident occurred, according to the State Patrol’s Public Affairs Office. Trooper Nate Reid said an investigation report wasn’t available late Monday afternoon, but the dispatch record showed the accident occurred at 12:36 p.m.
“The cyclist had serious injuries,” Reid said.
The Basalt Fire Department responded to the scene with an ambulance, but the cyclist was taken to a hospital by a private vehicle, according to Basalt Fire Chief Scott Thompson. Reid said the preliminary report indicated the cyclist was taken to Aspen Valley Hospital.
Reid said more information about the circumstances of the accident will likely be released Tuesday.
