EAB meets tonight

Staff Report

RIFLE — The Garfield County Energy Advisory Board (EAB) meets tonight, starting at 5:30 p.m. with a catered dinner and “social time,” at the Rifle Branch Library.

The featured presentation at the meeting will be a talk by Laurie Rink, coordinator for the Middle Colorado Watershed Council, on the subject of “water quality protection using the watershed approach.”

The presentation is expected to offer information about how local “stakeholders,” including government, industry and agriculture, are working to evaluate water quality in Garfield County and come up with ways to preserve and even improve water quality in the county.

The actual meeting is to start at 6 p.m., following the social time, and those expecting to attend are asked to RSVP to 970-625-5915 for meal planning purposes.

Also on the agenda tonight will be the introduction of new members to the EAB. The new members are Jack Castle of Parachute representing Rulison, Holes Mesa and Morrissania Mesa; Tom Vondette representing the Taughenbaugh Mesa region; Kimberly Bullen representing the City of Rifle; and A.J. Hobbs representing the Town of Carbondale.
