Set your taste buds aflame with the return of En Fuego, a pop-up restaurant planned for Wednesday, June 18, inside Grand Junction’s Veterans of Foreign Wars building (1404 Ute Ave.). The fiery affair will run from 5-7 p.m., or until the food runs out.

After kicking off En Fuego first in Palisade (November 2013), Decadence Gourmet Cheesecakes founder and chef Lee Mathis began offering his heated menu on occasion (always as a pop-up of course), along with milder creations (like his Cheeze’s pop-up) between Palisade and Grand Junction.

“The gloves are coming off this one,” Mathis said.

This one-day menu will include Flamin’ burgers (with bacon and angus), Nuclear brats, Atomic wings (featuring a Carolina reaper sauce), Ghost fries and mango/habanero popsicles.

According to Mathis, a sample of the Carolina reaper sauce will be given before an order is placed to ensure folks can handle the burn.

“It surpasses ghost peppers in heat,” he explained.

Don’t like hot food? No worries. En Fuego will also offer a few “landlubber” options for folks just along for the ride.

Plate pricing will range between $5-$10.
