Flawed bottle bombs found near River Valley Ranch pond

Carbondale police disposed of several “caustic bottle bomb(s)” found Monday near the pond in River Valley Ranch.

After responding to a call that one bottle bomb had been found, officers also found two more on the iced-over pond, none of which had exploded.

The devices were improperly mixed, according to a Carbondale Police Department press release, so they were ineffective.

Residents should be wary if they come across a bottle bomb, especially if the bottle is swelling or swollen, as it could explode.

If you try to relieve the pressure, you could be sprayed by the contents in your eyes and on your skin, according to the press release.

Contact the Carbondale Police Department at 970-963-2662 to report any more of these devices.
