Glenwood Springs parking garage project completed

GLENWOOD SPRINGS — The city has completed its year-long construction project at Ninth Street and Cooper Avenue, at the site of its new 151-space public parking garage.

Contractors have been working through a final punchlist in recent weeks for all outside improvements, which have included street repair, curbs, gutters, sidewalks and the alleyway.

The parking garage, a joint project of the City of Glenwood Springs, Garfield County and the Glenwood Springs Downtown Development Authority, represents a part of the multi-million dollar downtown infrastructure projects that began in May, 2012. It was completed at a cost of more than $4 million with contributions from the three partners.

Just north of the parking garage, work on Eighth Street and Cooper Avenue will continue for the joint facility for Garfield County Library District and Colorado Mountain College. That project is slated for completion in early fall.
