Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.

Fighting, false reporting: At 2:49 p.m. on July 9, a municipal court official notified police that a man had lied about his personal identification when contacted by police during a fight that was reported earlier. Elmer Lara-Canales, 21, of Glenwood Springs, was arrested, fingerprinted and charged with false reporting to authorities and fighting; he was later released with a summons.

Illegal camping: At 3:03 a.m. on July 10, police contacted a man camping during the night along a bike path near the 2000 block of Grand Avenue. Police issued a summons for unauthorized camping within city limits to George Cary Findlay, 42, of Glenwood Springs.

Open container: At 2:08 p.m. on July 11, police observed two men sitting in Axtell Park with open cans of beer. Police contacted Jeffrey Michael Franz, 44, of Glenwood Springs, and Norman Francis Williams, 72, of Glenwood Springs and issued them summonses for possession of an open container.

Warrant arrest: At 1:34 p.m. on July 12, police were notified that a man at the courthouse was the subject of an active arrest warrant for failure to comply on an original charge of DWAI. Police arrested Jacob Duane Schooley, 39, of Glenwood Springs, and jailed him on the warrant.
