Glenwood Springs Police Report
Editor’s note: The Glenwood Springs Police Department reports the following incidents and arrests. Summonses or arrests merely indicate an accusation, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless found guilty in court.
Warrant arrest, drug paraphernalia: At 10:53 p.m. on May 5, police were advised of a possible drug violation incident that occurred at a residence in the 51400 block of Highway 6. Police contacted a man and determined that he had an active warrant out of Garfield County. They arrested Cody Dayton Blondin, 25, of New Castle, for the active warrant and issued him a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged him at the Garfield County Jail.
The bird is the word: At 9:46 a.m. on May 6, police received a report of a woman driving carelessly and showing the middle finger to other drivers in the 600 block of Red Mountain Drive. Police contacted Stephanie Deanne Eldred, 21, of Glenwood Springs, and issued her a summons for careless driving and disorderly conduct.
Warrant arrest: At 11 a.m. on May 6, police arrested Donne Gene Hughes, 24, address unknown, in the 900 block of Cooper Avenue for an outstanding warrant.
Warrant arrest: At 10:19 a.m. on May 7, police were notified of a woman that wanted to turn herself in on three warrants. Amelia Grace Eshelman, 20, of Carbondale, was arrested and lodged in the county jail on the warrants.
DUI, careless driving: At 3:59 p.m. on May 7, police took a report of a male driving carelessly on I-70. Police contacted James Cal Morrell, 56, of Thorton, and observed signs of intoxication. Morrell was subsequently arrested and lodged in the county jail for suspicion of DUI, careless driving, driving under revocation and no proof of insurance.
Domestic violence, harassment: At 12:22 p.m. on May 9, police were dispatched to a domestic violence incident at a gas station in the 2100 block of Grand Avenue. Upon arrival, police contacted both parties and a witness. Nathaniel Mason Cwalinski, 20, of New Castle was arrested for harassment (domestic violence) and lodged at the county jail.
Shoplifting: At 2:04 p.m. on May 9, police were dispatched to a business in the Meadows for a report of theft. Police arrested Robert Leigh Helvenston, 59, of Glenwood Springs for theft (shoplifting) with the stolen merchandise being valued at $116.87. He was then released on a summons.
Warrant arrest: At 5:45 p.m. on May 9, police were dispatched to a bail bondsman’s office in the 200 block of Seventh Street for a man who wanted to turn himself in for an arrest warrant. Police contacted Jesse James Allen, 21, of Carbondale, who had an outstanding warrant out of Garfield County. Allen was arrested and lodged at the county jail on the outstanding warrant.
