Glenwood’s finance director moving on

Glenwood Springs Finance Director Charles Kelty will be leaving the city in early September after about 16 months on the job to take a new job with the Grand Junction VA Medical Center.
Kelty also served as the city finance director in Rifle for nine years before replacing longtime former Glenwood finance director Mike Harman in April 2015.
His last official day is Sept. 2, although new City Manager Debra Figueroa has asked that he continue in a consulting capacity through the 2017 city budget process now underway.
“I enjoy working with the city of Glenwood Springs staff and City Council and regret leaving,” Kelty said. “However, I find the older I get the more my priorities have changed. I have accepted a less responsible position so I can spend more time with my family.”
Kelty lives in Battlement Mesa with his wife, Joy, and three children. Before he was Rifle’s finance director, he worked in health-care finance. He is a 1992 graduate of Colorado Mesa University.
The city of Glenwood Springs is advertising to fill the finance director’s position, which pays an annual salary of between $79,000 and $99,200, depending on qualifications.
